‘Horizon Forbidden West’ players can make Sony plant trees

It’s possible that the next PlayStation trophy you collect will give you more than just bragging rights. When you acquire a trophy in Horizon Forbidden West, Sony has developed a “Play and Plant” program that will plant a tree. If you finish “Reached the Daunt” by March 25th, Sony will donate a tree to the Arbor Day Foundation’s reforestation projects in California, Florida, and Wisconsin. To put it another way, you may conserve the real Earth while saving the virtual one.

The initiative will not be popular with all environmentalists. When they reach the anticipated 288,000 trees needed to complete the reforestation efforts, Sony and the Arbor Day Foundation will stop accepting donations.

Given that Horizon Forbidden West is Sony’s tentpole title for early 2022, it’s possible that the business may reach that milestone shortly. Planting as many trees as possible would be kinder to the world (and latecomers).

Nonetheless, the plant-a-tree initiative is a one-of-a-kind tie-in and an experiment in tying in-game successes to real-world results. You now have a monetary motivation to keep moving forward. We don’t expect projects like this to become regular, but they’re likely to become more popular in the future – even if it’s only to keep people interested in a game after the first few hours.

What do you think?
